Roslyn School's Pyjama Day!

Last week, the boys and girls and teachers at Roslyn, came to school in their pyjamas. We collected food for the Salvation Army. Some families in Palmerston North do not have enough food to eat. It was fun dressing up in our pj's because we never get to wear our pj's to school.
Check out some photos of how much food we collected. We even practised our assembly item in our pj's!

Art with Rei

On Wednesday we had an artist visit Roslyn School. All of the classes went to the hall for an art class. The Ferns got to work with Rei using crayons. We learned how to draw whispering, talking and shouting waves. Before we could use our crayon we used our magic finger. Our magic fingers shows us what to do and how to draw in our minds so we know what our drawing will look like.
Brienna really liked drawing the final piece of art.
Elise liked drawing the bird using crayon.
Abby enjoyed drawing waves.
Onewhero liked drawing the windy waves.
Dwayne liked drawing a bird with a fish in it's mouth.
Alofaretta liked drawing the clouds.
Wairua liked the part when he got to draw a bird using a bloack crayon.
Danielle and Shakira had fun drawing the fish.
Niraj's favourite part was making clouds with a green crayon.

Checking out Roslyn School on Google Maps

Wow! Room 21 was really surprised to see Roslyn School on Google Maps. We learned how to get on to Google Maps and then clicked the satellite button to see a bird's eye view of our school. We were able to see the sand pit, the playground, the courts and our classroom!

What a cool feature! What else can we goole map? What other environments do we want to check out?

The Snake Cake!

Last week Room 21 read the big book, The Snake Cake. We really enjoyed reading the story as a class. On Friday we got to make our own Snake Cake in class and write our own Snake Cake story. We really enjoyed the literacy experience!!! Have a look at some of the photos of our snake cake and stay tuned for an online copy of our story.
Thanks for looking :)
